Kross had a decent run in the WWE, but due to bad booking on the main roster, the once formidable character could not be taken seriously. He was released from the WWE on November 4, 2021, before returning in 2022.

The latest video package of Karrion Kross featured the typical cryptic messages. Kross touched upon how he predicted the fall of The Bloodline. He also talked about turning Rey against his son and everything he was involved in. However, one blink-and-you-‘ll-miss-it moment saw a very familiar-looking silhouette.

This was a hint at the Authors of Pain making their return as reported. The duo could be seen joining forces with Kross and forming a dominating faction on SmackDown. It was reported that WWE was planning on bringing AOP to SmackDown, and this little hint could be their confirmation of it.

How bad booking ruined Kross within a year
2021 July saw Kross make his debut on RAW. While fans were excited about it, no one could have predicted he would lose his first match. Not only did he lose to Jeff Hardy, but he also did so in under two minutes. According to Kross, the match was supposed to last for 10 minutes. However, as he made his way to the ring, the match was cut to 90 seconds.
The next big thing to ruin his momentum was the gimmick change that took place in August. He wore a gladiator helment and suspenders, which no one liked and felt was in poor taste. After the WWE, Kross wrestled in MLW and NJPW. He returned to the WWE on August 5, 2022.
