Wade Barrett announced last night that current SmackDown Superstar and former NXT Champion Kevin Owens will make his return to NXT as a guest commentator next week. With the build-up to NXT TakeOver: WarGames already in motion, KO’s sudden appearance raises some eyebrows.

The last time we saw Kevin Owens in NXT, it was at NXT TakeOver: WarGames last year when he was revealed as the fourth member of Team Ciampa against The Undisputed Era. The crowd erupted as soon as KO’s music hit last year. It was a very big deal to have Kevin Owens be a part of the WarGames Match.

Will KO have a role to play in the Undisputed Era-Kings Of NXT feud?

Kevin Owens and the entire Undisputed Era go way back. Adam Cole and KO are excellent friends in real life, but is seems highly unlikely that he will have some concrete role to play in the feud between the two stables of NXT.

The maximum we see happening is Kings Of NXT ambushing Kevin Owens and the Undisputed Era come out to make the save. It would add more depth to this very personal feud between the two groups, especially between Adam Cole and Pat McAfee.

Kevin Owens will be a part of Team SmackDown in the traditional Survivor Series tag team match this Sunday at Survivor Series. He isn’t feuding with anyone on the blue brand as of now, so an appearance on NXT following Survivor Series surely adds questions about what could be. Will KO’s time on NXT next week be Undisputed, or will he set his sight on Finn Balor? Tune in to find out!
