Kurt Angle Believes Brock Lesnar’s WWE Return Took the Buzz Away from CM Punk and Daniel Bryan’s AEW Debut

Last month was crazy for pro-wrestling fans. They witnessed two major comebacks at a time when they were least expecting it. CM Punk made his return at AEW Rampage after seven long years, and Brock Lesnar made his surprise return at the SummerSlam PPV.
What’s more interesting is, these two returns happened over the weekend. Punk debuted on Friday at Rampage and Lesnar surprised the WWE Universe the next night at the PPV.

The social media handles of both the pro-wrestling companies declared Lesnar as the winner because over 3 million people viewed his comeback video in 24 hours on WWE’s Instagram handle.
Kurt Angle thinks WWE did “just enough” by bringing back Brock Lesnar
During his recent appearance on The Wrestling Inc. Daily, the WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle discussed the time when CM Punk and Brock Lesnar made their comeback in the same week.
Angle confessed Brock is a huge draw for any wrestling promotion, and WWE just pushed that button after Punk’s debut the previous night.

“Anytime you bring in Brock Lesnar, it’s a huge deal. So, yes, it definitely took away some of the buzz that was created when CM Punk and possibly Daniel Bryan joined AEW. But those two are big names, too. I think WWE did enough damage control by bringing Lesnar in, that I don’t think it [Punk joining AEW] will affect them much. But, they did lose Bryan and Punk, who I’m guessing was never going back to WWE, so that didn’t really matter.” Kurt said.

He further added that it took away some “buzz” from Punk’s debut and the fans got a new talking point. However, the fans have to wait a little more before they see ‘The Beast’ in the action.
