It is the season of injuries for the WWE. With Royal Rumble edging closer, the eventual road to WrestleMania, the biggest pro wrestling promotion in the world had major plans for the two spectacles. It, however, looks like some major changes are on the cards, considering the number of superstars who are falling prey to injuries.

With some career-threatening ones while others being enough to sideline the superstar for a while, here are some of the names from Charlotte to Austin Theory, who would be out of the roster.

Starting off with the latest injury, which happened just tonight on SmackDown, Carmello Hayes was looking forward to increasing his chances of entering the men’s Royal Rumble, and a win against Austin Theory tonight could have proved vital for his journey towards the road to WrestleMania.

However, destiny had other plans. Midway through the match, Hayes was in a seated position atop the corner when Theory charged toward him and attempted a half-seated Spanish fly. But the back of Hayes’ head appeared to land on Theory’s forehead as they reached the mat, forcing the referee to give the doomed X sign, declaring it a draw, while medical professionals rushed in to check on the two superstars.

As per the recent update provided by the WWE, the two have suffered face contusions.“UPDATE: Following their match tonight on #SmackDown, @_Theory1 and @Carmelo_WWE were evaluated for injuries. They both suffered face contusions, and will both be okay.

So while they are not out of the Royal Rumble, fans can expect the two to skip a few appearances for now to make sure the two high flyers are fit for some rumble action.

Charlotte Flair

A few days back on SmackDown, Charlotte squared off against Asuka and sustained a severe knee injury midway through the match. But being the queen that she is, she valiantly finished the match despite the injury.

While many expected the injury to be a minor one considering how Charlotte managed to finish the match, it was later revealed to be a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus that will take her out of action for 9 months.

Giovanni Vinci

The member of the Imperium faction received a head injury during his tag team match against Kofi Kingston and Jey Uso on the ‘Day 1’ episode of RAW. This saw him out of action in future episodes, and according to a recent update provided by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the WWE superstar is out due to a concussion.

“Vinci is out due to a concussion from the kick by Kingston to the jaw last week.”

Wes Lee

On the December 5th episode of NXT, Wes Lee announced his temporary departure from the company due to a severe back injury. Appearing in-ring with a crutch, the NXT star revealed that he would be undergoing surgery after experiencing pain and a loss of feeling in his legs. The recovery period post-surgery is expected to be between eight and twelve months.

Cora Jade

Hopefully the final name on this list, NXT star Cora Jade, suffered an injury during an NXT live event in Dade City, Florida. As the main event of the night, Jade was facing NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria when she sustained the injury due to a botched pin attempt by Valkyria, according to fans in attendance.
