Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, recently appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience, an episode that premiered on November 15th on Spotify. They discussed topics ranging from his entrepreneurial pursuits to addressing speculations about a potential presidential campaign. 

The episode delved into The Rock’s transition from wrestling to Hollywood success. It also highlighted an interesting insight into his relationship with Vince McMahon and his father, Rocky Johnson. The Rock shared a moment from his early days when he had to fight his father before transitioning into wrestling.

Dwayne Johnson goes past the major hindrance to his wrestling career

Our favorite WWE superstar, The Rock, dreamed about becoming a football player once. But he had to let go of the dream after a futile attempt. However, he received a call later, but it was too late as The People’s Champion had already decided upon wrestling. The only hindrance in between was his father, Rocky Johnson.

In the interview, The Rock revealed how he had to go through a major fight with his father over transitioning to wrestling from football. With a meager paycheck of $300 (CAD) offered in 1994, it was barely enough to meet one man’s end, let alone for our Brahma Bull. Hence, Rocky Johnson was adamant about moving away.

Dwayne Johnson clarified the situation to his father and said, “I think I am done. I’m done with football and the pursuit of it, it’s just not in my cards. I’m gonna get in the business. The wrestling business.”

Initially, his father was reluctant, as the pay was not too good even for the former WWE Tag Team champion of WWE. Hence, the two had a major fight over career choices. It led to a restless state at home as Johnson defined. He said, “We got in the biggest f**king fight. He didn’t want me to do it. My mom’s crying, I’m crying.”

However, the Hollywood star did not back away and asked his father to either train him or he’ll get someone else for training. He said, “It got to a place where I said either you’re going to help train me or I’ll go to somebody else.” And the rest is history. 

Johnson received some valuable insights that helped him clinch glory. He revealed two crucial insights he received from two esteemed personalities, as he hoped to find success in his initial years.

The Rock receives two major life-changing advice at WWE

The Rock further narrated that he met Pat Patterson, who was working as the right hand of Vince McMahon. Patterson gave Johnson a major piece of advice that turned out to be a life-changing one for our future champ. 

Another life-changing piece of advice that The Rock received during his first meet-up at WWE came from Vince McMahon. The big boss asked the Miami flamboyant man to travel to Tennessee to learn about wrestling and the business.
