Bloodline unleashed some epic drama tonight on the blue brand signing the 41-year-old superstar into the faction. While the development turned out detrimental to Jimmy Uso, as he was the one to earn the wrath of the newest member, the saga teases a series of utterly intriguing twists going forward.
The superstar in question is none other than Tama Tonga, Haku’s adoptive son. Despite already being a prominent name in the pro-wrestling field, joining forces with the most underscored faction in WWE will certainly give a new edge to Tonga’s storied career. Tonga’s WWE arrival was long-rumored as he already let the world know that his NPJW tenure was reaching an end after winning that NEVER Openweight Championship title for the fourth time at Wrestle Kingdom this January. But the tease actually dates back to a nine-year-old interview with Dwayne The Rock Johnson.
Back in 2015, The Great One introduced his heroic uncle King Tonga, aka Haku, Tama Tonga’s adoptive father, to the world by narrating a drawing of a deed for him.
Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel, the Rock noted, ”My uncle, King Tonga, was one of the toughest man, there’s a crazy story so he was out and he was eating after a big match at one time he was uh wrestling Hulk Hogan, I think this was in Buffalo and after a match yeah one some from Buffalo and then uh so after the match some of these fans started getting a little unruly when he was eating dinner and he was not only the toughest one of the toughest men in the world uh but also one of the most gentle guys and this is a heartwarming story so he’s eating and a fan was drunk and unruly and you’re not that tough and my uncle’s like oh no it’s okay just leave me alone please you’re not that tough finally uh the guy pushed my uncle my uncle gets up he grabs him by the head and he bites his nose right off,”
This rightly explains where Tama Tonga got its attacking instinct from. Moving ahead, let’s do a little background check on the newest Bloodline signee.
Peeping through Tama Tonga’s decorative wrestling career
Tonga got his lessons from Haku and Ricky Santana and entered the whirlwind ride of professional wrestling back in 2008. Kick-starting his career in indie promotions, he scored a failed WWE tryout. However, things started to move upward for him once he joined the New Japan Pro-Wrestling in 2010. Tanga eventually became a founding member of the renowned stable Bullet Club and teamed up with Loa to etch his name as one-half of the Guerillas of Destiny, one of the finest tag teams in the company’s history.
Nevertheless, Tonga’s decorated run in the Bullet Club came to a halt back in 2022 as Jay White uprooted him from the group in a shell-shocking turn of events. However, this setback didn’t come as a total disaster to Tonga, as he was able to explore himself more than an individual wrestler and also refunded the Guerillas of Destiny within Hontai.
