Fans who were concerned about Naomi’s future after her former tag teammate Mercedes Mone’s NPJW debut finally got to hear some good news. Trinity Fatu AKA Naomi, along with Marcedes Mone AKA Sasha Banks, walked out of the Stamford-based company last year following some creative differences with WWE. While Mone quickly placed herself in her dream promotion, NPJW, Naomi’s career seemed uncertain.

But that uncertainty didn’t last long as the former SmackDown Woman’s champion left the entire wrestling world surprised by making her Impact Wrestling debut at the Spring Sluggers TV Tapings last Friday. Her debut will take place on the May 4th edition of Impact.

This marked the end of the former WWE star’s long hiatus since May last year when she chose to leave the WWE ring for good. While Naomi didn’t even utter a word about her infamous walkout earlier, she finally considered squeezing her heart out on this.

The 35-year-old Impact star has gone through an uphill battle before her contract with Impact finally materialized. During her first interview with NBC Chicago after the big debut, Naomi reflected on her year-long hiatus and paid gratitude for how it changed the course of her career for the better. The ex-WWE figure noted, “I’ve been wrestling 14 years now, and then one day everything, everything just changed. And I felt like my whole world was turned upside down and things were shuffled around. It took a little time to just process everything and sort out what I want to do, where I want to be.”

“I feel like it was a blessing in disguise. I feel that it’s allowed me to grow and become better in every way, in every aspect. Show me how strong I really am. And now I’ve got this new journey ahead of me, these new goals, and I’m excited and ready to step into this new chapter,” she added.

However, Impact Wrestling was an unexpected destination for Naomi, especially according to the fans, who largely expected her to sign in either AEW or NPJW.

Sasha Banks supports her friend’s new journey

Trinity Fatu has been there in almost every match Mone had under the NPJW ring to cheer her up, something that led to the speculation of her joining the Japanese promotion shortly. Moreover, a recent report by Wrestling News Observer suggested that NPJW gave up on the thought of signing Fatu because of their recent budget cut.

Sasha Banks’ high-priced contract with NPJW indirectly caused a setback in her friend’s career. With that being said, it didn’t make sense anymore after Fatu found her new wrestling home in the Nashville-based promotion. Banks has nothing but excitement for her friend’s brand-new start. The former NXT Women’s champion wrote on Twitter, “TheTrinity_Fatu is here to make an IMPACT!!! She bout to knock out all competition & leave em in the rear view. Get it sis.”
