This week, as many as 12 NXT superstars have been fired, most notably Drew Gulak. Ronda Rousey had accused the wrestler last month of pulling the lace of her sweatpants behind the scenes. The former UFC fighter has been on the warpath against WWE in recent times. Gulak responded a day later by assuring that he accidentally touched the cord when he wanted to shake hands to greet Ronda. This caused WWE to completely remove Gulak from the schedule and prevent him from being named in NXT. His firing was greeted among fans as WWE’s response to Ronda Rousey’s accusations against Drew Gulak. However, that did not emerge as the reason.

Triple H claimed in the post-Backlash press conference that Gulak was not fired, but rather his contract expired. However, he also took a shot at notable media platforms such as Fightful while answering the question. This did not earn him the favor of the WWE Universe as they rallied against HHH and the Stamford-based promotion.

Triple H is usually the last to appear at premium post-event press conferences and this time did not prove an exception. WWE’s Chief Creative Officer answered several media questions after WWE Backlash France, some of them about thorny issues that have plagued WWE in recent days. Specifically, the departure of Drew Gulak has attracted a lot of attention, even more so after becoming one of the most valued wrestlers in recent years.

Gulak found himself in a sea of controversy after the former UFC star’s claims. Moreover, his departure practically coincides with those statements. But according to Triple H, Gulak was not fired, only WWE decided not to renew his contract. And while answering his question on Gulak, HHH asked the journalists to cite ‘good’ news sources rather than Fightful, and PWInsider, as a journalist, quoted them as his sources.

The COO said, “First of all, if you’re gonna cite news sources, pick good ones.” This was surely not well received by Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful, who issued a response.

As for the fans, it took no time for them to rally against Triple H. Storming to Twitter, they asked HHH to apologize and criticized the promotion and the COO.

The pro wrestling community chastises Triple H and demands he issue an “apology”

The WWE Universe did not take kindly to the unsavory remark launched by Triple H. Several tweets claimed that the WWE should apologize ASAP. This user demanded that HHH should apologize to Fightful and PWInsider for questioning their credentials.

Another user seconded the opinion but wanted it to be a thorough and proper apology. It should not be an insincere cookie-cutter one.

This user asked the WWE to get it together and stop messing up their relationships with the media. Earlier, fans had pointed out the aloof manner of The Game’s comments on Vince McMahon’s allegations during the Royal Rumble PLE in 2024. They did not want HHH to pile on with his unreasonable comments. The user asked the WWE to fix the situation with an apology.

One user believed that the WWE was simply trying to avoid another legal case. The promotion does not want to disrupt the good work it has done this year by adding to its other controversies, notably the McMahon scandal.
