Wrestling rivalries die hard. Due to the already competitive nature of the sports world, the rivalries made meanwhile are difficult to leave behind. Some of these rivalries take place inside the ring while sometimes these are purely based on pro wrestlers taking shots at each other outside the ring despite having never met in the squared circle.

Goldberg has been handling such a rivalry for quite some time. This beef he has is with the 37-year-old WWE star, Matt Riddle. In fact, even after Goldberg’s potential retirement gets closer, Riddle did not let things go away in peace. Recently, Twitter witnessed a potentially new online feud fueling up. Riddle tweeted a picture of him and Goldberg with a caption that would make you want to rethink whether their feud ever ended.

What did the WWE star tweet about?

The major feud between Riddle and Goldberg started with the Riddle taking shots at Goldberg’s wrestling skills leading to the former WCW Champion blocking him. Later, Riddle again went after Goldberg after his much-maligned match against The Undertaker in Saudi Arabia. They even faced each other backstage at Summer Slam 2019. During the interaction, Riddle called Goldberg his ‘bro’.

Goldberg took offense and told him he is not his “bro.” Although both the stars had called off the rivalry and had presumably resolved it over a conversation, Riddle seems to be stirring the pot. The 37-year-old recently took to Twitter and posted a picture of him and Goldberg from SummerSlam backstage. He even wrote the caption, “#NeverForget“, bringing up the buried feud.

It’s important to note that this is happening during the retirement chaos of Goldberg.

So, could it be possible that this recollection of the past is an indicator of a potential future match?

Goldberg’s retirement demand from WWE

Goldberg served WWE for a good amount of time. However, the 56-year-old hasn’t been seen since Elimination Chamber 2022. This is because Goldberg signed a deal with WWE that didn’t have many matches in a long tenure of booking. So, although WWE has completed Goldberg’s number of matches, the wrestler is unable to compete in any other promotion since he is still signed with WWE.

So, even though he has not technically retired, fans speculate that he will do it soon. This is because Goldberg has openly confessed a demand for a retirement match that he believes WWE owes him. But now he is set to go out on his own terms and says he will have a retirement match.

Amidst all this chaos, could Riddle’s tweet be a signal of something the promotion might be planning for Goldberg’s retirement?
