“100%”: Mami Rhea Ripley Reveals Plans to Compete for Intercontinental Championship Ahead of Elimination Chamber

Rhea Ripley has become one of WWE’s most prominent female talents and the unofficial leader of Judgment Day. Since the creation of the faction, Ripley has interfered on a few occasions on behalf of her teammates, attacking men on occasion. It looks like that was a prelude to achieving an aspiration of hers.
In this way, many have seen a similarity in her figure to that of Chyna. A superstar, who, like the current SmackDown Women’s Champion, was involved in the Attitude Era in rivalries involving D-Generation X. However, there seems to be another similarity between the two, or at least there will be soon, as Rhea Ripley has hinted at taking a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. A belt that Chyna won twice.

During an interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp backstage at the WrestleMania kickoff show, Rhea Ripley opened up about her rivalry with Charlotte Flair and answered a few questions on Judgement Day. However, one question caught the attention of the wrestling faithful. The question revolved around the prospect of her aiming for the Intercontinental Championship. And while many would back out on the opportunity, Ripley was 100% in on the idea. She said, “Oh, 100%. I’m always down for a challenge. I love a good challenge. So if uh that opportunity were to arise, I would 110% be down.”

This will surely make old fans remember the late Chyna. The ‘Ninth Wonder of the World’ was considered the most dominant wrestler in WWE. In fact, Chyna was the reference for many within the women’s division. Moreover, her achievements were not typical for a wrestler. Part of such achievements was having two men’s title reigns, including being a WWF Intercontinental champion. Due to her physical appearance and feeling of dominance, Rhea Ripley has invoked comparisons to Chyna on several occasions.
Ripley, like Chyna, has had several confrontations with wrestlers throughout her career. Participating in several mixed matches and inter-gender matches, is something that WWE rarely does. Legend of the sport, Diamon Dallas Page, too, sees the similarity between the two. As he once said in an interview, “Rhea, she reminds me of another Chyna because she can go out there and beat guys, and I’m going to believe it because she’s that good.”

It is also worth noting that Rhea Ripley and Dominik’s gimmicks are very similar to the ones shared by Chyna and the late Eddie Guerrero. Guerrero called Chyna his ‘Mami’, similar to the moniker Rhea Ripley has on the Judgement Day. With such similarities, can we see Ripley being the actual one to dethrone Gunther? What do you think?
