Like some of his wrestling co-stars, Dwayne Johnson rose up from a poor household. The WWE legend has repeatedly expressed on public platforms what he had been through in his younger days. In an exclusive interview, the wrestler once shared a hurtful detail about his past. One of the richest Hollywood stars today, talked the story of his family being evicted from their home in Hawaii.

The family was forced out of their flat due to poverty. Although it all eventually settled down for the better, Johnson can’t stop revisiting his bitter memories.

Johnson was 14 years old when he was living in Hawaii with his mother. His father, Rocky Johnson, was a wrestler. Rocky was running an independent circuit at the time but couldn’t make enough that the family could sustain itself in a healthy manner. One day, the 14-year-old Johnson came home to find an eviction notice pinned to the door.

We were living in an efficiency that cost $120 a week. We come home, and there’s a padlock on the door and an eviction notice. My mom starts bawling. She just started crying and breaking down. ‘Where are we going to live? What are we going to do?’recalled the WWE legend

It was around the same time that Johnson also turned to petty crimes and was often caught by the police, troubling Ata Johnson even more.

However, the young Johnson soon set his path straight and eventually led himself to greatness. He corrected himself because he did not want to see his mother suffer so much.

Dwayne Johnson took the sport seriously and wanted to establish a career in the same. However, a quick turn of events led him to wrestle in WWE where he found his true calling. The Rock soon became a household name and later transitioned to Hollywood after an electrifying pro wrestling career.

Today, he stands as one of the highest-paid actors in the world and has a net worth of over $800 million, his own production house owns the football league XFL among other ventures. From being evicted early in his teens to becoming one of the biggest celebrities in the world, DJ has come a long way.
