Since then a number of popular names have joined him as co-hosts. Speaking to the New York Post, Seacrest said he would like to have The Great One as his co-host for the 2023 event.

Seacrest mentioned “The Rock, Dwayne Johnson. Dwayne Johnson in Times Square would be the greatest because it’s packed and people would pay attention to him,” His 2022 co-host, actress, Liza Koshy also chimed in and joked that The Rock was going to take his job.

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve is a special broadcast primarily from Times Square in New York on ABC. It features coverage of the ball drop event, a countdown to the new year, and performances from top artists. This year the event was the highest-rated and most-watched New Year’s Eve celebration telecast.

If Seacrest’s wish comes true and The Rock ends up hosting the event later this year, it could easily shatter many records. The Brahma Bull enjoys a tremendous mass appeal and is a proven ticket seller and can get more eyes than ever before on the show.
