WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has been the face of WWE for the past five years. Even though he was hated and rejected by the fans, he remained Vince McMahon’s poster boy.

Now that he’s a full fledged heel and fans are loving his new persona, Roman Reigns is finally recognised as the true face of WWE. The champion recently represented WWE at MTV’s European Music Awards 2020.

The show was hosted by British pop group Little Mix. It was aired from a variety of different locations. Musicians from all across the globe performed for the show, from DaBaby to David Guetta and even Sam Smith.

Roman Reigns’ appearance at the award show came as a surprise to wrestling fans, especially considering Roman Reigns’ recognition outside the WWE. He has never made an appearance on an award show. Well, except for the WWE Slammy Awards.

Roman Reigns as WWE’s top heel

Babyface Roman Reigns was a failed experiment that WWE tried to push as a success. His WWE Title win against Triple H at WrestleMania 32 was received by a chorus of boos. His loss to Seth Rollins earned one of the loudest pops ever heard in the WWE.

Reigns returned at SummerSlam with a new attitude, a new look and most importantly, a new manager. Roman Reigns looks like the merciless Samoan beast that he was meant to be, alongside Paul Heyman. He won the WWE Universal Championship a week after his return.

Since returning, his rivalry with Jey Uso has been one of the highlights of SmackDown. Reigns beat Uso in two hellacious matches, with their Hell in a Cell match being one of the most emotional matches in WWE.

Randy Orton has a strange history with Reigns. Orton was Reigns’ first victory on PPV, which followed their brutal rivalry as a part of the Evolution vs Shield rivalry of 2014.

Orton, fresh of his WWE Title win at Hell in a Cell, will be hellbent on cementing his place as the top champion in WWE. Roman Reigns, on the other hand, will be looking to defang the Viper and spear him into oblivion.
