NXT Deadline PLE opened with the arrival of NXT Head and two-time WWE HoF Shawn Michaels. His arrival was followed by CM Punk, who showed up and Shawn Michaels welcomed him to the show. Punk was sporting a pink hoodie with the WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart‘s logo. The logo read Hitman (Bret Hart’s nickname). It led to Michaels making a tongue-in-cheek comment about Punk’s attire.

Caught in a mixed world of emotions at NXT Deadline, Shawn Michaels took a cheeky remark at CM Punk, upon the latter’s return. HBK’s sour history with Bret Hart is known, he has a profound liking for Punk. Thus, upon seeing Punk with the hoodie, he ended up saying “Nice Hoodie.”

Meanwhile, Michaels’ comment to Punk about his hoodie is a subtle reference to the long-standing rivalry between him and Hart. HBK and Bret Hart have a sour history rooting in from their wrestling days before and after the infamous Montreal Screwjob at Survivor Series 1997.
HBK even won his first WWE Championship after defeating Bret Hart at WrestleMania XII. After the events of 1997, the two remained estranged until 2010 when Bret Hart returned to WWE and the rivals finally buried the hatchet. But why did the Second City Saint show up at NXT?
Punk arrived in NXT as part of his ongoing storyline where he is deciding which brand he will sign up for. He appeared on RAW the week following his return at Survivor Series. He appeared on SmackDown this week at Tribute to the Troops edition. Now, he is at NXT to tease his joining.

Punk will reveal his decision at RAW in the coming week. His situation is similar to Jade Cargill who is yet to join any brand exclusively. Like Punk, Cargill was also drafted from AEW and is yet to fight a match in WWE. But this is not the only thing Punk did at NXT Deadline.

CM Punk is proud of NXT Superstar
CM Punk shared a backstage moment with NXT Superstar Cora Jade after his promo. While Cora Jade was being interviewed, the Best in the World appeared behind her taking selfies.
He came up close and said he was proud of her. Punk said, “I’m proud of you. You should be very proud of yourself.” The segment is followed by WWE’s post showing Cora Jade taking autographs from CM Punk before she joined WWE.
