The last 24 hours for Nikki A.S.H. aka Nikki Cross has been busy. She won the Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, unhooking the contract. Then, a day later, she cashed in on the newly crowned Raw Women’s champion, Charlotte Flair, and ended her one-day reign to become the champion for the first time.

A month ago, Nikki was a mid-carder with no particular direction. Then she came up with her ‘Superhero’ gimmick and pitched it to the chairperson, Vince McMahon himself.

As he gave thumbs up to her, Nikki Cross became WWE’s own superhero – Nikki A.S.H. (Almost A Superhero).

According to WrestlingNews, Vince McMahon is happy with Nikki’s creativity and her imaginative thinking. Her new gimmick will promote more and more merchandise which would eventually help the company.

Additionally, this superhero gimmick will be very popular with the kids and will increase social media engagement as well.

“Vince loves the gimmick and feels that she has opened up a world of opportunities to sell more merchandise and for her to do some community outreach with the kids. She took the initiative and she got rewarded last night. She brings a lot to the table and she made herself much more valuable with this superhero gimmick,” the report said.

The WWE looks happy with the current gimmick of Nikki. Hence, it seems like a win-win situation for both parties.

Nikki says her gimmick is inspiration from DC and Marvel comics

In an interview with Comicbook.com, the current Raw Women’s champion says she was interested in the comic book characters from both DC and Marvel.

She also said that wrestling gimmicks like The Hurricane portrayed by Hurricane Helms inspired her to do a crossover comprising her favorite superhero characters and her love for wrestling.

Cross said, “So, for me, I was actually saying this earlier on too, I was such a huge fan of the X-Men cartoon and the Spider-Man cartoon. I’ve always loved superhero cartoons and superhero movies, Marvel, DC, the Justice League, everything, Suicide Squad, everything with Marvel, we’ve just finished watching Loki, which I’m not going to, no spoilers.”

“So it just felt like the time was right, the time was right, and I always loved Hurricane Helms, the Hurricane character, Mighty Molly, I loved that when I first watched WWE. So for me, it’s, let’s take something we all love, like superheroes, let’s take wrestling, and let’s put them together in this lovely little fusion.”
