60-Year-Old Japanese Legend Details His Initial Reaction to WWE Inducting Him in the Hall of Fame Despite Never Working for Them

WWE is one of the biggest and most popular wrestling promotions of all time. The pro wrestling giant has dominated the wrestling world for a long time and engraved its mark everywhere. Although recently many competitions to WWE have popped up, such as AEW. Still, WWE’s popularity remains.

Recently, the wrestling promotion announced a few of its WWE 2023 Hall of Fame class inductees. While legend Rey Mysterio still made the cut despite being an active performer on the roster, another wrestling legend made his way onto the list.

They also announced the 60-year-old Japanese wrestling legend, The Great Muta, for the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame class. However, fans and even Muta expressed their shock at his induction. Since he had never set foot inside the squared circle of WWE.

A Japanese legend, Muta has never wrestled for WWE. However, because of his contributions to the world of wrestling, the company considered the legend worthy of a Hall of fame induction. Recently, in January 2023, Muta would retire from in-ring action after a defeat against Tetsuya Naito.

The WWE announced Ric Flair as the inductee for The Great Muta during his Hall of Fame induction. However, combat sports reporter Marc Raimondi in a series of Twitter threads revealed Muto’s initial reaction to his Hall of fame induction.

What did Marc Raimondi reveal about The Great Muta’s initial reaction?

Japanese wrestling legend Muta was shocked at his own induction and would reveal his shock when asked about it. He would claim, “I was like, ‘What? Really? Why me?'” since he was not being able to process the induction because of his zero ties with WWE.

Although Muta had been a part of WCW, but it was before WWE purchased WCW. Raimondi revealed that Muto is still not sure why WWE inducted him.

WWE also proceeded to announce Rey Mysterio as the first inductee of the 2023 class, despite Mysterio being a full-time competitor on the roster. Mysterio is currently in a heated feud with his son Dominik Mysterio, and The Judgement Day.

Despite Dominik Mysterio demanding a match against his father, Rey has been denying it. However, with WrestleMania just one week away, fans are now expecting many more matches to get confirmed, including the father-son fight at ‘Mania.

It was shocking seeing Rey Mysterio getting inducted despite being a full-time competitor. However, will we witness Mysterio retire after his much-anticipated match against his son, Dominik Mysterio? If the curtain does fall on Mysterio’s career, he can rest assured that his name will reverberate across the wrestling world.
