Carlito was expected to face Santos Escobar at Survivor Series in a singles match to avenge Escobar’s betrayal of Rey Mysterio. But, it looks like WWE has a change in plans and an upcoming WWE superstar will replace the veteran at Survivor Series. CARLITO TO BE REPLACED FOR MATCH AGAINST SANTOS ESCOBAR WrestleVotes tweeted on X on November 24th revealing a major update for the upcoming SmackDown episode. The tweet read, “Hearing rumblings that one of tomorrow’s Survivor Series matches will be changed tonight. Chatter of Dragon Lee replacing Carlito vs Santos Escobar after an injury angle.” It is not known why Carlito is being replaced for the match but as per rumors, a kayfabe injury will be shown to include Dragon Lee. Interestingly, Dragon made his main roster debut against Dominik Mysterio on 25th September and now he may fight to avenge Rey Mysterio.

Ever since the brand split, the PPV has been hosting Raw vs SmackDown team matches involving 5 or 6 members from each brand. Apart from this, there is also a Raw vs SmackDown Champion vs Champion match to determine the alpha.

Moving from pre-recorded shows, WWE (then WWF) was one of the first promotions to introduce live shows in front of the audience. PPVs ensured WWF made it to the top of the food chain.

WWF received a lot of controversy over the Survivor Series 1997 main event between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels. Competing in his last ever match for the company, Hart was booked to walk out as Champion.

However, Vince McMahon instructed the referee to ring the bell in favor of Shawn Michales at a key point in the match. The crowd was told that Hart had tapped out.
