The WWE Network is home to thousands of hours of exclusive WWE programming. Or it was? In one of the biggest news of the evening, NBCU’s Peacock streaming service now owns the exclusive rights for the WWE Network in the United States. There is no definite number, but the amount is mammoth!
WWE Network moves to NBC’s Peacock in the U.S., Stephanie McMahon comments
In an exciting development, NBCU and WWE have agreed on a multi-year deal for exclusively streaming the WWE Network on Peacock. There is no exact number available, but reports doing rounds suggest it is a five-year deal for over $1 billion, while some believe it could even be $5 billion!

Existing WWE Network subscribers in the U.S. will access it via Peacock at no extra cost. Both Peacock Premium and Premium Plus plans will include the WWE Network. Peacock Premium is priced at $4.99/month and Premium Plus is $9.99/month.

Peacock will also stream WrestleMania 37 at no extra cost – something that’s never happened in WrestleMania history. WWE’s CRO Nick Khan said, “To have WrestleMania in particular – which is our Super Bowl – available [for no extra cost] on Peacock is quite different from other models you’re seeing.”
Peacock’s EVP and CRO Rick Cordella said they have a lot of data that shows great user acquisition for sports and live events. Besides over 17,000 hours of existing content, WWE will produce a signature documentary annually for its Network on Peacock. These annual documentaries will not be on the Network outside the U. S.

The WWE Network launched in the United States in 2014 and has just a little over 1 million subscribers. Now, if we do the calculation with the subscriber count and revenue of the network, this deal with NBCU is a jackpot. The Network wouldn’t have touched the $1 billion mark in revenue on its own in five years.
With NBC shutting doors, various sports telecasts, including the NHL, will now shift to the USA Network. There were rumblings that NXT would have to move from their Wednesday night slot to make way for NHL. Now that WWE has agreed on this over a $1 billion deal, moving from Wednesday nights wouldn’t be an issue.
