WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has undergone an emotional roller coaster ride in the last few days. So soon after the passing of his dear friend the late Terry Funk, the 74-year-old mourns yet another loss. Legendary American singer-writer Jimmy Buffett passed away at 76 years of age and he was good friends with Ric Flair.

While his daughter, Charlotte Flair has made a return to SmackDown after a short break from action, Ric Flair is mourning the loss of an old friend. Flair took to social media to express his condolences.

The singer and songwriter of “Margaritaville”, Jimmy Buffett, passed away peacefully on September 1 according to a statement on X (Twitter). The statement noted that Buffett was “surrounded by family, friends, music and dogs” as he breathed his last.

Among those who paid rich tributes to Buffett was 16-time world champion Ric Flair. Saddened by the demise of Buffett, Ric Flair took to X to tweet about his feelings. Flair tweeted, “So Saddened To Hear About The Loss Of My Great Friend Jimmy Buffett! 30 Years Of Friendship! He Was An Amazing Entertainer Who Made The World A Better Place! Thank You, Jimmy! Rest In Peace! 🙏🏻.” It’s no surprise that Flair had an appreciation for Buffett’s music.

The wrestler has frequented Buffett’s concerts many a time, even going so far as to become an honorary member of Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band. Flair appreciated Buffett for being an amazing entertainer and for making the world a better place with his music.

Buffett’s sole top-10 hit came with  1977’s “Margaritaville” which led to a dedicated fan base known as “Parrotheads”. He started as a country singer in New Orleans, Louisiana. After the success of “Margaritaville” he began tours and merchandized his music to become one of America’s richest celebrities. What started as a T-shirt shop and cafe grew into an empire of more than 150 restaurants and bars and more than 30 hotels and resorts.

According to Forbes, Buffett’s net worth was over a billion dollars, with his concerts having grossed more than a million dollars a night.

Buffett was on tour till 2023, with his last tour date being listed as May 6, 2023, in San Francisco on his website. As per the reports on Buffett’s website, he was battling skin cancer for years and passed away at his home in Sag Harbor, New York, due to complications from Merkel-Cell carcinoma.

The Nature Boy isn’t the only celebrity who is friends with the star entertainer. The list of other big names who remembered The King of Cool includes President Joe Biden, Elton John, Bill Clinton, and TV presenter Andy Cohen.

Former POTUS Bill Clinton had a good relationship with Buffett, who played on the South Lawn of the White House in August 2000. Clinton posted on X, “Jimmy Buffett’s music brought happiness to millions of people. I’ll always be grateful for his kindness, generosity, and great performances through the years.”

Cohen wrote on X “The king of cool… paradise was wherever Jimmy Buffett was. ❤️☀️🌊🦜🍔” The official account of the New Orleans Saints also paid a tribute to Buffett, naming him “an iconic performer.”

President Biden also released a statement celebrating Buffett’s life. The statement read, “His witty, wistful songs celebrate a uniquely American cast of characters and seaside folkways, weaving together an unforgettable musical mix of country, folk, rock, pop, and calypso into something uniquely his own.”

Elton John took to his Instagram stories and wrote, “Jimmy Buffett was a unique and treasured entertainer. His fans adored him and he never let them down. This is the saddest of news. A lovely man gone way too soon.”

Jimmy Buffett is survived by his three children Savannah, Cameron, and Sarah, and his second wife Jane Slagsvol. He will be most remembered for his iconic country music, especially songs like Margaritaville, Come Monday, and Fins
