‘The Problem Was Rather My Father’: Charlotte Flair Had Resentment Towards Sharing Screen Alongside Ric Flair In 2020

Charlotte Flair returned to WWE after last having a match in May this year. The daughter of legendary Ric Flair has made a name for herself in WWE after spending a long time.
However, after this all these years, ‘The Queen’ doesn’t like to be associated with her father in WWE. A few years ago, she shared about the same in an interview.

A couple of years ago, in 2020, Charlotte Flair gave an interview to the Hindustan Times during her visit to India. Shared about not linking being called the daughter of Ric Flair anymore. The Queen started by saying, “The problem with that storyline was not so much Lacey, but rather my father.
In 2020, when The Queen was in a storyline with Lacey Evans and The Nature Boy. As the pandemic hit, Flair just had to go to work and home.
She had a lot of free time and wanted to change things in her character. Therefore, she was happy to be on RAW every night for the same.
The feud didn’t end as it was planned because Evans got pregnant and took a hiatus. Shockingly, she didn’t like to work with Ric Flair in this storyline.

The 36-year-old WWE superstar was looking forward make changes in her gimmick. She was serious about it, but she didn’t want to have a storyline with her father.
She said, “I wanted these changes with all my heart. When my dad got involved in the story, I got a bad feeling, that wasn’t my goal in 2021. Now I’m Charlotte Flair, I’m not just Ric’s daughter anymore. That’s why I didn’t want to be on TV with my dad. I don’t want anyone to think that I am a selfish person, anyone who would like to share the scene with their father.

The Queen added, “However, if you have followed my career carefully, you know that I have had to struggle a lot to get out of his shadow. I want people to recognize me as an independent superstar, that’s where my frustration stems from” (H/T Wrestling World)
Charlotte has indeed made her WWE career a major one. Taking the Flair name ahead, she has achieved every milestone in WWE until now and there is more to come.

The Queen added a new milestone in WWE
On the latest episode, SmackDown The Queen made her return. She also challenged Rousey to a match for the SmackDown Women’s Title.

She won the match and became a 14-time Women’s Champion in WWE. It seems she’ll break her father’s record by the time she hangs up her boots.
