A few hours before Hell in a Cell, The Undertaker posted a throwback video with Randy Orton. Unsurprisingly, it is also the trailer of an episode of “30 years of the deadman.”
Ahead of his big match against Drew McIntyre at Hell in Cell for the WWE Championship, Randy Orton received a heartfelt message from the man he faced when he entered the unforgiving structure for the first time back in 2005.
Undertaker took to his personal Twitter account to share a video of his intense rivalry with Randy Orton. The “Deadman” was all of praise for the then 24-year-old prodigy.

While many feel Evolution made Randy Orton what he is today, back then he was just a supporting personality. The rivalry which deserves its credit for making Randy Orton what he became is the rivalry with The Phenom.

Randy Orton had targeted the Undertaker back in 2005 on the road to WrestleMania. He wanted to set himself apart from all Superstars and end the Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak.
The Viper got his match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 21. Months later, Randy Orton got drafted to SmackDown and restarted his rivalry with the “Deadman.”

It was a nine-month-long rivalry with many intense moments and matches. One unforgettable moment saw Orton and his father, Bob Orton, defeat The Undertaker in a handicap casket match.
Post the match, Orton and his father locked the casket with Undertaker stuck inside. They then made holes in the casket and poured gasoline and lit a fire.

From here on, the rivalry became personal. For months, both Superstars went after each other, in a bid to make the other suffer for thier deeds. This rivalry came to an end in 2005 when Undertaker faced Randy Orton inside Hell in a Cell at Armageddon.

Orton may have lost this match, but this rivalry started a rapid run to the top of WWE for The Legend Killer. Multiple world titles, WrestleMania main events, Royal Rumble victories, and a certain Hall of Fame induction in the future – all of it started at that infamous blood bath with the Undertaker.
