Well, The Rock’s strengthening and conditioning coach spilled the beans behind the muscle building. Even the wrestler turned actor himself mentioned he uses those three tips by Dave Rienzi.

Tips by the coach of Dwayne Johnson for muscle building!

Dave Rienzi, the strengthening and conditioning coach who co-founded ZOE Energy with Dwayne Johnson, took to Instagram to share the advice. The time by Johnson’s business partner includes techniques and specific exercises to gain muscle and build overall fitness and strength.

1) Incorporate Negatives:

The very first tip that Dave Rienzi suggests is the negative reps to boost muscle building. This exercise involves lengthening the muscles or lower weight. Incorporating negatives creates a lot of stress on the muscle, which is ideal for gaining muscle size and strength.

The Rock’s coach recommends applying slow reps for about four seconds. Using the 4-seconds per rep, Rienzi mentioned two to three exercises for the best results.

2) Dwayne Johnson adds Stability Exercises for Upper Body:

Dwayne Johnson’s coach doesn’t tell you to stop there because the second step includes stability training. Dave Rienzi’s second tip is to work on the upper body with stability drills. He gave an instance of putting weights on an earthquake bar for a bench press.

The Rock’s ZOA Energy business partner suggests not using a traditional barbell with weight plates on the side. Unlike the classic barbell, an earthquake bar is loaded with hanging weights on both ends.

Performing stability drills using an earthquake serves the purpose of weight shake during the exercise. It creates additional resistance and force on your body from multiple directions to control the movement. In addition, resisting shakes on your body activates more muscles that help to boost the gains.

3) Barbell Hip Thrusts & Reverse Hypers:

ZOA Energy’s co-founder advises chain exercises to build lower body muscles. Renzi’s final tip includes barbell hip thrusts and the reverse hyperextensions exercises. These movements will bring changes in posterior chain muscles, including glutes, lower back, and hamstrings.
