With nearly 300 days of work in a year, WWE superstars are no strangers to injuries and prolonged absence as a result. It has affected many wrestlers over the years who miss programs while they recover. Lacey Evans, who last appeared on an episode of SmackDown in the month of June, left many guessing with her absence since. Now, the 33-year-old has provided an update.
Evans came to the spotlight with an infamous storyline featuring WWE legend Ric Flair in 2021. This was also not the first time the former Marine missed WWE events. But this time it’s different.

In case you still cannot figure it out, FKA stands for formerly known as. This ends her seven-year stint in the Stamford-based promotion. Evans started in 2016 as an NXT talent.
Her main roster debut was in 2019. While she fought Natalya in a dark match, her television debut for the main roster came at that year’s Royal Rumble. However, the highlight of her career was the storyline with the 16-time world champion, which started in January 2021.
The highly controversial and publicized storyline featured Flair as Evans’s romantic interest. The storyline evolved as the icon feuded with his daughter, Charlotte Flair. However, it had an abrupt end as Evans went on maternity leave.
This wasn’t the only controversy Evans faced during her time with the company. She was involved in one recently.
When Evans got slammed for copying a popular gimmick of WWE Hall of Famer
Evans had gone through various changes in her gimmicks throughout her run. While her sassy southern belle gimmick was much appreciated, the recent one was criticized as a copy of Sgt. Slaughter.

Among those who came down hard on the 33-year-old were the WWE legend and his daughter, Kelly Slaughter. After Kelly Slaughter slammed her as a poser, taking offense at Evans for the likeness of her gimmick to her father’s, the former WWE superstar replied.
While she appeared respectful to the Hall of Famer, she wasn’t so kind to the legend’s daughter. WWE too supported Evans as the controversy raged. The company told a news outlet that there was no backstage heat for Evans.
