Vince McMahon Releases Long Time Friend Gerald Brisco From WWE

Every industry and company in the world is facing monetary problems and WWE is no different. We learned about the 15-20 superstars that were released in April for COVID-19 budget cuts. Well, now one more legend has joined the list.

Gerald Brisco was an on-screen talent during the late ’90s and early 2000s. Behind the scenes, he was also a talent scout for the WWE and discovered many WWE superstars who made it big in the company.

The WWE Hall of Famer served the company for a long 36 years. Gerald Brisco took to Twitter to announce his sad departure from the WWE.

Originally, it was rumored that Brisco was released from his contract in April. However, later Brisco said he was just furloughed, as many employees were. Unfortunately, now the company has fully parted ways with him. Brisco sent out another tweet, thanking WWE for the last 36 years.

Gerald Brisco’s legacy in the WWE

Gerald Brisco retired from in-ring competition and started working behind the scenes for WWF/E in 1985. The Hall of Famer is well known to fans for his on-screen role during the Attitude Era. The legend was one of McMahon’s “stooges” along with WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson.

Brisco and Patterson had many memorable moments during the attitude era. The WWE Legend is also a two-time Hardcore Champion and one-time 24/7 champion.

However, according to wrestling fans and experts, Brisco’s greatest contributions were as a scout in the WWF/E. The 73-year-old was a star high school wrestler and college wrestler at Oklahoma State.

This helped him identify many young talents who could make it big in pro wrestling. Brisco was responsible for talents like Minnesota’s Brock Lesnar and Sheldon Benjamin, Indiana’s Jason Jordan, and Chad Gable.
