WWE SmackDown Recap and Results: Title Match, Contract Signing Involving John Cena, and More

We are still processing the zeal of just passing through another momentous Friday Night SmackDown. As WWE continued its road to WWE Fastlane 2023, the weekly shows seldom disappoint us these days. Action-packed pre-scheduled bouts completely lived up to the expectations with some splash of surprises.

John Cena teased to team up with AJ Styles against Bloodline but things turned upside down by the end of the night. A Women’s championship match also took place on another action-filled Friday Night from the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

The night kicked in with an energetic John Cena came down to the ring teasing a fight against The Bloodline and AJ Styles as his partner only to be stopped by Adam Pearce. Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikao also declined an immediate fight, instead a contract signing was planned for later in the night.

LWO (Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford)

Winner: Mysterio’s LWO got the upper hand over the Street Profits after a tiff brawl. Although the match was less personal and more centered around Lashley; it delivered an interesting showdown.

Iso Sky WWE Women’s Championship — Iyo Sky (c) vs. Asuka

Winner: Iyo Sky took down Asuka with her picture-perfect moonsault with Damage CTRL by her side and ended up retaining the gold. However, Charlotte Flair tagging Bayley at a crucial moment for her interference made her win smooth.

Brawling Brutes vs. Grayson Waller & Austin Theory

Winner: The unadvertised match saw Austin Theory and Grayson Waller picking up an impressive win with A Town Down from Theory.

The show came to an end, with Adam Pearce making Cena sign a contract while Jimmy Uso was seen attacking Styles backstage. Solo Sikoa added to the misery and Styles had to be hospitalized. Cena rushed back and checked on him.

At the closing moment, Jimmy and Solo Sikoa made their way to the ring. Paul Heyman said that Cena signed a contract but has no partner, only to be confronted by Cena. Cena took them down before the numbers game caught up on him. Sikoa and Jimmy Uso decimate The Champ before signing the contract to end the show.
