The show started with Bianca Belair making her way to the ring as she celebrated her last week’s win against Damage CTRL. A clip showed the highlights from the last week’s battle at Survivor Series. Belair addressed the audience of Brooklyn followed by thanking Becky Lynch Charlotte Flair and Shotzi for helping her at the WarGames. She then said that it’s not over as she wants her title back from Iyo Sky. As she was still addressing the crowd, Damage CTRL made their way to the ring, however, the leader of the stable Bayley was absent.

Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai said that if she wants to go against Sky, she has to go through all of the Damage CTRL. That’s when Charlotte Flair and Shotzi came in to make the heels run away. Later on, Kairi Sane was announced to be the first obstacle for Belair on her road to winning her title. In a backstage segment, Bayley asked her fellow members why did they not call her. Kai changed the topic, hinting at a major threat looming over Bayley.

Butch vs Bobby Lashley

Following the last week’s betrayal by his fellow stablemate Ridge Holland, Butch of the Brawling Brutes decided to go solo by challenging Bobby Lashley. While Butch gave a tough fight, Lashley easily ‘slam dunked’ him in the ring on multiple occasions. However, Butch got the best of the situation as he dodged Lashley’s spear, giving him an upper hand on the situation.

But Lashley changed the tides quickly by power-slamming Butch. Followed by a spear at the end, Lashley pinned Butch making him the winner.

Winner: Bobby Lashley

Paul Heyman’s disappointment

In a backstage segment following the Lashley-Butch brawl, Heyman was seen walking into SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis’s office. He asked if it was true that Aldis would be signing Randy Orton to SmackDown. To this, Aldis replied with a yes. Heyman then asked does Roman Reigns knew about this. Aldis then told The Wiseman to inform him about this change in roster to his Tribal Chief and there is nothing he can do about it. Heyman was then seen making a call, hinting at something major on the way for Randy Orton.

Santos Escobar vs Joaquin Wilde

At the grudge match at the Survivor Series, Santos Escobar defeated Dragon Lee. On this week’s episode of SmackDown, he went against his former stablemate of Latino World Order, Joaquin Wilde after taking down his hero Rey Mysterio. Right off the bat, Wilde proved to be athletic, flying in the ring while delivering blows to Escobar. However, Escobar gained the upper hand as he foiled Wilde’s attempt at a frog splash. Escobar later successfully pinned Wilde, and the bell rang making him the winner.

Winner: Santos Escobar

Escobar did not stop from hitting even after the bell. At this moment, Dragon Lee entered the ring to check on Wilde. Escobar ambushed him from behind but Lee was successful in fending him off.

Backstage segment: The feud between Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce is still very much heated. Pearce was seen backstage confronting Aldis. Pearce asked how could he try to take a Raw star right under his nose and showed he was also carrying a contract with him.

Logan Paul makes a big announcement

In an in-ring segment, The Maverick was seen addressing all his fans and haters. Paul even added that after Mysterio sustained major injuries following the SmackDown after Crown Jewel, Mysterio won’t be getting his rematch. However, he then made a major announcement that along with Nick Aldis, he has decided to organize a tournament to determine who will be his next opponent.

Starting next week, the tournament will start which will pit stars such as Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens, Austin Theory, Grayson Waller, and others against each other.

While he was still addressing the crowd Kevin Owens made his way to the ring. After a heated back and forth, Waller and Theory made their way to the ring. As Theory said that he should now stop punching people in the face, Owens knocked him out of the ring and Waller followed him. Owens and Paul stared at each other looking impatient for their official confrontation.

Grayson Waller vs Kevin Owens

For the bout between Owens and Waller, Logan Paul was present as a guest commentator at the table. As the bell rang, Waller slid out of the ring just to hug Theory. He then came back in and tried to pin Owens. However, after the failed attempt Owens delivered some punches. After a while, Waller again went out of the ring and managed to severely injure the right wrist of Kevin Owens. Even after the injury, Owens managed to deliver a frog splash but it was not enough to stop Waller. Even after Waller targeted his injured wrist on multiple occasions, Owens successfully pinned Waller securing the win.

Winner: Kevin Owens

Bianca Belair vs Kairi Sane

On the road to get her WWE Women’s World Championship title, Belair has to face off against Kairi Sane. However, in a turn of events, Sky ordered Bayley to stay backstage while the rest of the Damage CTRL made their way to the ring. Belair was accompanied by Charlotte Flair and Shotzi. As Belair was overpowering Sane, Asuka pulled Belair’s leg giving Sane an upper hand. This was followed by Flair making Sane trip and fall.

Seeing this Asuka decided to jump into the ring where she received a punch in her face from Belair. After some back and forth, Sane climbed up the top turnbuckle to deliver a splash but was unsuccessful at pinning her for the count of three. Out of the blue, Bayley interrupted the match leaving Belair fazzed out. But it was of no use as Belair was still able to pin Sane to win the match.

Winner: Bianca Belair

The battle for Randy Orton

Following the match between Belair and Sane, both Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce were seen making their way to the stage. The question on everyone’s mind was who would be able to secure Randy Orton. Both the general managers were in the ring as Aldis welcomed Randy Orton on the SmackDown. The Viper walked into the ring and the fans were not able to contain their excitement. As both Pearce and Ladis were trying to make him an offer he could not refuse, Paul Heyman interrupted the negotiations.

Heyman said that things will not go according to him as The Bloodline will write his story. Out of the blue, Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso ambushed Orton in a bid to stop him from signing with the blue brand. As the brothers overwhelmed The Viper, LA Knight entered the ring and took Sikoa away with him. This left Uso with Orton alone in the ring. Uso was dealt with an RKO that knocked him out. Following this, he took contracts from both Pearce and Aldis and decided to sign with SmakcDown.  As Aldis lifted Orton’s hand as a winner, Ortin delivered an RKO in an impulsive act. Following this, Heyman was seen making a call.

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let?s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
