WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day Makes A Huge Statement On SmackDown

The New Day is widely known and lauded for their entertainment value, as well as for their in-ring performance. The wrestling stable includes Big-E, Kofi Kingstone, and Xavier Woods. Xavier Woods is currently recovering from an Achilles injury he suffered back in 2019.

Big E and Kingston have astonishingly been eight-time Tag-Team Champions in the company. They made an even greater feat in this week’s show.

While the whole world is fighting against the systematic racism these Superstars decided to show their support for the cause.

The New Day makes a statement in WWE

The latest episode of WWE SmackDown featured an exhilarating match where Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura competed against SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day. It was the first matchup of the night.

The match didn’t quite go the way Kingston and Big E had hoped for. However, the beginning of the match featured a moment that earned the love and respect of many.

They raised their hands while on their knees and showcased their solidarity and support for the Black Lives Matter movement. The Superstars also wore special armbands to pay tribute to Breonna Taylor, Tamla Horsford, and Shukri Abdi who had suffered not unlike George Floyd.

The New Day also on their podcast ‘New Day: Feel the Power‘ spoke about the whole movement and expressed their take on the issue.

I just keep thinking, and I put myself in George Floyd’s position. When I saw him be murdered like that and to have a man put his knee on his neck like that.

“I don’t know how you don’t feel empathy for a man who was accused of passing a counterfeit $20 bill, man. He didn’t deserve to die like that. We cannot be okay with murdering us. We just can’t be okay.

“It’s not the first time and it’s not the second time. We’ve seen it. I’ve seen and heard these stories from my parents and their parents, and their parents before them.

“I cannot accept living in a country where this is acceptable. Where it takes two days to get an arrest for this man!”

The gesture outweighed any loss or victory in the ring. Fans took to social media to show their love and respect. Big E and Kofi Kingston made a very classy move to show their support. Hopefully, many others follow.
