Another health hazard hit the wrestling world hard, but thankfully this one came to light after it resolved itself. And the entity involved with it was none other than the AEW senior producer, Dean Malenko. He had not been at his best for a while and the wrestling veteran, Jim Ross, explained why.

In a recent shocking update, Ross revealed the former WWE coach has undergone severe brain surgery to cope with Parkinson’s disease. The only matter of relief is that the surgery went well as planned.

Malenko has been training the AEW talents since 2019 as a coach and producer. That said, before gracing Khan’s business, Malenko served in the Stamford-based company as a producer for nearly 18 years starting in 2001. During this time, he handled top-tier talents like Brock Lesnar. And even before that, he made his name as one of the most technical in-ring talents to ever exist on the WWE roster.

Surprisingly enough, he attained all this glory with a severe neurodegenerative disease, popularly known as Parkinson’s disease.

The onset of the disease led to the wrestling veteran undergoing brain surgery recently. As per what Ross noted, Malenko was present backstage following his successful brain surgery.

The WWE veteran couldn’t refrain from running into Malenko during the event and spent some quality time together. Also, as per his take, the 63-year-old figure didn’t get enough credit for what he has done in AEW.

Jim Ross labeled Dean Malenko an unsung hero of AEW

Malenko’s feat in WWE, both as a wrestler and a producer, is a well-documented truth to the fans. But Jim Ross believes his AEW stint has also replicated the same quality. Rather, the former WCW Cruiserweight Champion is pretty undervalued in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

He has been a super coach to the loosely structured talents in the Khan’s showcase. He helps them with all his expertise and experience, leading toward a greater path in their career.

Therefore, Ross sees him as the unsung guy of the promotion.
