Among the matches to feature at WrestleMania XL were Rey Mysterio, Andrade vs Santos Escobar, and Dominik Mysterio. The father-son showdown featured the whole team of LWO and Legado Del Fantasma at ringside. However, no one was expecting to see Jason Kelce come to the rescue of Rey Mysterio. This resulted in an interesting conversation backstage with Triple H.

Nearing the end of the match, chaos broke down around the ring, with LWO and Legado Del Fantasma going against each other. Seeing the opportunity, Dirty Dom went outside to get a chair. However, to his surprise, two of the biggest Rey Mysterio mask-wearing fans took Dominik out and tossed him into the ring. After Rey secured the pinfall, both men entered the ring and unmasked. They were the hometown heroes of the Eagles, Kelce and Johnson. The audience popped for this, and despite not being that involved in the match, both men got a ton of love. WWE and Triple H posted a video of both men backstage after the match. Talking to Hunter, Kelce said, “Those cheers have been great.”

This was referring to the fans popping for both men. Hunter responded by telling them that he wanted them to go out there and have fun. Looking at the smiles on both their faces while in the ring, both men did look like they had a lot of fun. While online speculation suggested that Kelce could make an appearance due to Mysterio’s invitation, no one thought that the former NFL star could play an active part in proceedings.

While the Philly fans loved the moment, Dave Meltzer did not. Taking to social media, he criticized the WWE for putting over hometown heroes over rising stars like Dirty Dom. According to him, using celebs at Mania was given more precedence than helping raise the stocks of young rising stars. Despite the hate he has garnered from the WWE Universe, Dominik has earned rave reviews for the work he has put in. Having him buried at Mania seemed to have been a wrong move by the WWE according to Meltzer. Nevertheless, one cannot deny that the collision of two sporting worlds emerged as a stellar form of entertainment befitting WrestleMania.
