Did Colin Kaepernick miss out on a potentially big deal? XFL was acquired by Dwayne Johnson back in August 2020. Since then, the league has had two seasons under the new leadership. The Hollywood star aimed to propel the growth of the league by recruiting acclaimed NFL star Kaepernick. However, the 35-year-old did not exhibit any signs of interest.

The former San Francisco 49ers star hasn’t played competitive football since 2017. So fans are naturally wondering how big of a deal he missed out on.

Currently, the highest-paid XFL star is Brett Hundley. The quarterback at the Vegas Vipers has signed a new lucrative deal. With a net worth of $4 million, the new deal makes his base salary $200K. This is the highest salary being received by an XFL player. This comes close to his annual salary of $196,000 when he was with the Indianapolis Colts before he left the NFL.

This is a lot less compared to Kaepernick’s average of $1.2 million when he was with the San Francisco 49ers. But Johnson would have made a consideration for the 35-year-old star. The owners of XFL, Dwayne Johnson, and Dany Garcia, have recently commended the growth of the league. And with the recent announcement of XFL merging up with USFL, fans were expecting more from the league. Few fans were expecting to see Kaepernick on the roster, but the 51-year-old actor broke the sad news on his Instagram.

It looks like the former NFL star still aims to get back into the big leagues, although his pursuit of joining the New York Jets failed to materialize. Kaepernick was last seen on the ground back in 2016. After years of not making an appearance, fans have been wondering how much this has affected his net worth.

Despite having a net worth of $17 million at the time of his release from the NFL, Kaepernick’s net worth has seen significant growth. As of 2023, his net worth is around $20 million. Most of the credit goes to the Nike deal he had signed back in 2018. The previous deal was set to expire and Nike signed a new deal on its 30th anniversary. The iconic tagline “Just do it” was paired with his determination to work against racial injustice.

This deal had amassed millions of dollars for the star. It also helped to propel him as a known face. Along with that, Kaepernick was also able to start his clothing brand along with Nike. Even though he is not losing much after not accepting the deal with XFL, Johnson needs stars like him to be part of the roster.

While Kaepernick’s net worth continues to grow, Johnson’s need for XFL to grow could have had Kaepernick on the right side of the bargaining line. What do you think? Did Kaepernick do good by rejecting Johnson’s offer, or should he have stuck it out?
