Former WWE NXT Champion Adam Cole was in a disputed situation. Cole’s WWE contract reportedly expired last Sunday following NXT TakeOver 36.
After this, there have been innumerable speculations about the future of Cole. While some said Cole would join his former Bullet Club buddies and girlfriend in AEW, some maintained that WWE will retain him.
However, recent news came in via PWInsider. The report confirms that WWE has released Adam Cole, and he was now a free agent, ready to sign with anyone. This further confirms Cole did not have the standard 90-day no-compete clause like others.

According to the report, WWE officials sent an internal memo via email, revealing the release. There were some negotiations in the contract which Cole did not agree to. WWE considered his release from August 24.
Now, Cole is free to sign anywhere. There is still a chance with WWE if they offer him a new deal. However, AEW, IMPACT, and every other promotion would come out to get Cole as well. Not to mention AEW World Champion and former Bullet Club member Kenny Omega already hinted at Cole’s AEW debut.
