On top of everything, he also joined the TKO board of directors, making fans think that this was the reason behind his WWE return. However, Chael Sonnen believes that it is the feeling that Johnson craved more than anything.

After discussing The Brahma Bull’s ‘bloody’ segment with Cody Rhodes, the UFC legend also talked about the potential return reason on his show. Sonnen said, “It was not about the money. It was not because he needed it. But you do get a certain feeling that you can’t replace.”

Various sources on the internet claim that the former pro wrestler is still signed with the Stamford-based company through a Legends Contract. This contract pays DJ around $5 Million a year reportedly for any appearance that he may be able to make. Moreover, upon joining TKO in January and becoming a board member, the sports entertainment company provided him with a bonus.

Upon signing with the company as a new board member, Johnson received an equity stake worth around $30 Million in the company. Despite the amount that he receives, Chael Sonnen’s words may be right about Johnson’s return.
