This affected a lot of aspiring wrestlers as well as pre-existing ones. Popular UFC fighter Ken Shamrock is among the names of wrestlers who were dissatisfied with the promotion following the drama. Recently, the former wrestler appeared on a podcast to talk about how the event affected his life and indirectly blamed Vince McMahon for his career decline.

How did Vince McMahon contribute to a career decline?

Vince McMahon cost Bret Hart his WWE Championship at Survivor Series 1997 against Shawn Michaels by calling for the bell despite the Hitman not tapping out. This blurred the lines between kayfabe and reality with McMahon accused of calling the shots and breaking the sanctity of pre determined entertainment.

 “That’s why things started going south for me after that because I had this distrust going into the ring and I wasn’t as focused on my craft at that time,” said Ken Shamrock in an online interview.

The reason why he blames this event is that this built a lot of distrust inside him regarding the promotion.

Since this also affected his career adversely, Shamrock held McMahon responsible for the same, since he was the one associated with it. However, he even shed light on the fact that nobody did anything to him. Rather, this was a personal thing he felt all on his own.

For starters, the scandal involved more people than just McMahon. Moreover, Shamrock has never been stuck in a scandal himself. Rather, the paranoia was loaned from the unfortunate event. He even realized this later in the interview while talking about the same thing.
