In an impromptu interaction with TMZ Sports the WWE superstar spoke about how he would be up for a clash with Conor McGregor at WrestleMania 40. He said, “Oh yeah, WWE and UFC. He’s called us out a couple of times, so I appreciate that. And I can go a little bit so I would still do it”.

On being asked whether it will be in an octagon or a wrestling ring, Ziggler replied, “Why not make it a best of three Octagon, Boxing match, wrestling fighting WWE and then set it all up for the best out of seven at WrestleMania, I mean that’s where the money is. Not everybody can go and back it up but some of us can.”

Well, Ziggler has surely thrown down the gauntlet and it remains to be seen whether The Notorious responds. If he does, it won’t be a surprise as he is known to be quite active on social media. And several WWE superstars replied to his social media post last year. Thanks to social media, word travels quite fast these days and it won’t take much time for McGregor to learn about the challenge.

The former Intercontinental champion will also have something substantial to work on if it does happen. The WWE has limited him to an enhancement talent constantly putting over the newer generation. However, his long and fruitful career has displayed his potential to the world. Facing McGregor can be a whole different ball game altogether. It isn’t the first time that the WWE veteran has called out the former UFC Lightweight champion.

Ziggler had earlier tweeted this month when the news of UFC’s parent company Endeavor’s WWE merger broke. He directly mentioned McGregor in his post as he vowed to shed 45 pounds in order to face the Irish fighter. The former Spirit Squad member looks determined to get noticed by the former UFC Featherweight champion.

Dolph Ziggler has now twice called out Conor McGregor, and we do not know him to be a quiet chap for long. We will have to wait and see how this plays out. This could have been just a verbal battle, but one can never know now, especially after the merger. Fans would be hoping that this happens soon.
