Xbox Chief Phil Spencer Believes That Legacy IPs Might Return as a Reboot if They Become Popular on Game Pass

Xbox changed the world of gaming when it introduced the Game Pass four years ago. Ever since its release, fans can play a massive library of games at a measly cost. This has allowed players to enjoy different genres of titles without having to shell out tons of money to purchase them.
Along with that, Game Pass also allows fans to play some of the older IPs from the world of Xbox. Many of these titles made their name on the older iteration of the consoles. But with the Game Pass, players can easily hop on and have a nostalgic time while playing them. Some of these titles have even become so popular that the developers have announced reboots of these franchises.

Xbox Chief believes that Legacy IPs will gain reboots if tons of people want them
During a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Xbox head honcho Phil Spencer talked about some of the company’s Legacy IPs. He was asked whether the rising popularity of these IPs’ on the Xbox Game Pass incentivizes the developers to reboot them, to which he replied affirmatively.
Spencer later gave an explanation while taking the examples of franchises like Fable, Prey and Dishonored. All these titles became major hits on the Xbox Game Pass, and they have become fan-favorite titles of the console. They have also received sequels as well, and Spencer believes that titles will receive reboots if a lot of people want them.

Game Pass makes a lot of reboots possible
Spencer also noted that the Xbox Game Pass allows the company to receive data about people’s interests. The subscription based business model allows Xbox to add a lot of games both new and old to gauge the interests of fans. So because of it, the company can now gain analytics about the likes and desires of millions of players.
“We will stay on that. Game Pass gives us a business model where that makes sense.”

Xbox will continue to release more reboots of some of their most famous Legacy IPs. It remains to be seen how massive of an effect the Xbox Game Pass has. But, fans will continue to play old titles using it, which might force the company to produce more reboots to satisfy them.
