Xbox Game Pass has been having a lovely year so far. The way Microsoft has been pushing the “Netflix for video games” seems to have been paying off well. In January, the gaming subscription service happily announced that it had crossed 19 million users.
This, however, comes as no surprise, given the impressive lineup of titles the Game Pass can boast of. With the addition of EA Play, the Game Pass lineup got an even further boost, thanks to the EA titles that are now available on the Ultimate version of the Pass.
However, recent news suggests that this union between EA Play and the Game Pass Ultimate has proven to be symbiotic, rather than unilateral. Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson was happy to share that around December last year, the EA Play service could flaunt 13 million users.

“The groundbreaking integration of our EA Play service with Microsoft Game Pass has accelerated our subscription business, with nearly 13 million players now active in our service across four platforms: Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, and our EA client. With more players valuing the subscription model and with our scale across platforms and content, we are building a strong growing business with recurrent revenue.”
However, the credit does not go to Game Pass alone. Around August last year, EA Play came to Steam as well. This, of course, was yet another move that made users pour in in huge numbers. The service will be seeing even more users pouring in when it becomes available for the PC version of the Game Pass presumably later this year.
