Anthony Joshua’s Former Opponent Seeks Revenge – Signs With Matchroom
In a new signing, Matchroom Boxing and promoter Eddie Hearn have welcomed undefeated Chinese heavyweight boxer, Zhang Zhilei, to the family.
The unbeaten Chinese boxer seems hell-bent on knocking the unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua off his throne. Now, after being signed by the same promotion, Zhilei can continue his journey to the top.
“I’m very happy to agree with Matchroom,” said Zhang. “They are one of the best promoters in the world. I’m the best Heavyweight coming out of China. I need an opportunity to become the best in the world, which I firmly believe Matchroom can provide. With each of us focused on our part, I wish a happy and prosperous future together.”

What is exciting about the Anthony Joshua vs Zhang Zhilei match-up?
Zhilei (22-0, 16 KOs) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Andriy Rudenko in a ten-round contest. He will most likely be having his next bout in November this year.
Now, Anthony Joshua (23-1, 21 KOs) sits at the top of the chain with the elite heavyweights. He will be facing the IBF mandatory Kubrat Pulev by the end of this year.

Interestingly enough, the two heavyweight boxers have met before in London Olympics, where Joshua beat Zhilei 15-11 in the quarter-finals. Ever since that loss, Zhilei has been eyeing revenge.
