AEW Superstars Andrade El Idolo and Kenny Omega locked horns at the TirpleMania show in Mexico City for the AAA Mega Championship. The match ended with The Champion, Kenny Omega, successfully defending his title against an impressive Andrade. The match gained enormous popularity as WWE legend Ric Flair showed up at TripleMania and stood in the corner of Andrade throughout the match. Now, reports are stating an alternative finish set up for the match, which AEW scrapped for an interesting reason.
AEW scrapped Andrade’s plan to win the AAA Mega Championship

AEW World Champion Kenny Omega successfully defend his AAA Mega title against Andrade in an impressive match. Ric Flair, who was in the ringside supporting his future Son-In-Law, consoled Andrade via a tweet.
The latest reports from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio stated that Andrade planned to win the AAA Mega Championship from Omega. But AEW intervened and scrapped the idea, as they had control over Omega’s finishes in other wrestling promotions.

Dave Meltzer speculated that the decision to keep Omega as the Champion was because of his defeat on AEW Ramage against Christian Cage. Cage defeated Kenny Omega in the debut edition of AEW Rampage to win the Impact World Title. AEW wanted Kenny not to lose two titles in a row and hence scrapped the idea of Andrade dethroning Omega from his AAA Mega title.
EL Idolo would have loved a hometown victory
The TripleMania event was held in Mexico City, which was the home country of Andrade El Idolo. The former WWE Superstar must have longed for a heroic victory in front of his native crowd. Furthermore, Andrade would also have loved to win the AAA Mega Championship before his future Father-in-law Ric Flair. But sadly, all those plans got scrapped, and Andrade ended up on the losing side.

Even though Andrade lost the match, the fans in the arena cheered for his performance. Additionally, Ric Flair’s consolidation would have helped him a lot.
Andrade is currently in a rivalry with the death triangle and will face PAC at AEW All Out. On the other hand, AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will lock horns with Impact World Champion Christian Cage at AEW All Out as the AEW World Championship will be on the line.
