A lot of things happened at AEW All Out. There were controversies and high points, but what you may not have noticed is that the promotion managed to deliver yet another veiled shot at WWE in a minor segment.

Except, this time the shot was pretty much out in the open. AEW Superstars Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford took a hit at not only WWE but specifically Vince McMahon, the CEO and Chairman of the company.

The two held up a sign promoting Twitch TV while smiling at the camera. This was clearly a reference to Vince McMahon’s decision to prevent WWE Superstars from using the platform.

McMahon felt that WWE Superstars were too revealing on social media, and used their ring names too freely. Some of the personal messages sent through these platforms could be detrimental for WWE, according to McMahon.

Concerns for the use of WWE names may arise from the fact that AJ Styles and Renee Young openly revealed that they had tested positive for COVID-19. This raised a lot of heat in WWE, and a lot of eyes turned to the safety procedures of the company.

“Some of you are engaged with outside third parties using your name and likeness in ways that are detrimental to our company. It is imperative that these activities be terminated within the next 30 days (by Friday, October 2). Continued violations will result in fines, suspension, or termination at WWE’s discretion.”

It also left a lot of Superstars thinking hard on whether or not they should continue.

Although AEW takes a lot of shots at WWE through its Superstars, the jokes never get old. It certainly is fun to watch a little poking now and then. Although, the fact that WWE doesn’t retaliate makes the entire effort seem uncalled for.
