“I’d love to fight Cody”- Shaquille O’Neal teases huge AEW appearance

Pro wrestling has seen its fair share of athletes from different sports entering the ring. WWE has seen boxers, NFL players, basketball players, and even actors get in on the action. Now, it seems like famous basketball player Shaquille O’Neal may want to throw his hat in the ring again.

In an interview with The Athletic, Shaq gave us a teaser of an AEW appearance. The former NBA player expressed interest in a feud with AEW star Cody.

“I’d love to fight Cody. Write it. Print it. Text it to him. Call AEW up and tell them,” says Shaq.

The 7’ 1” behemoth is definitely the scariest thing you want to be up against. That ominous height is enough to destroy anything that steps into the ring against him.

Shaq has some experience in pro wrestling. He first appeared back in 1994 at WCW’s ‘Bash at the Beach’ along with Hulk Hogan.

In 2009, Shaq had an in-ring altercation with Chris Jericho in WWE. Needless to say, Jericho did not come out on top; he didn’t even stand a chance.

The latest appearance of this giant was aptly at the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32. Shaq’s surprise entry was enough to set the stage on fire.

More recently, AEW has been making use of outside help to attract viewership. This has been working like a charm for the company. Mike Tyson’s involvement with the promotion directed a lot of attention towards AEW.

Shaq could also make a very big impact in the ring. If you thought Cody got dominated by Brodie Lee, wait till he squares off against Shaquille O’Neal.

As of now, nothing has been confirmed – but we hope AEW writers find a place for the big man over the next few weeks. Cody will definitely have to watch out for himself, should Shaq’s wishes come true.
