After Kenny Omega planted Jon Moxley with a second One Winged Angel on a steel chair, the Good Brothers and the champion had something more sinister in mind. Moxley previously mentioned that the exploding barbed wire deathmatch might be an excellent way to ride off into the sunset.

The Good Brothers and Omega had the same thought. They handcuffed a crimson-masked Moxley in the ring and left him to roast in the explosions that would go off once the thirty-minute timer ended. With twenty seconds left, Eddie Kingston ran to the ring and tried to save his former best friend.
With time running out, Kingston decided to sacrifice himself and covered Moxley. The timer finished counting down, and instead of an explosion, we got Gillberg’s pyro. Twitter exploded more ferociously than the explosives, calling the incident the biggest wrestling blunder of 2021.
Tony Khan provides an update on the PPV ending
In a post-show media call, AEW CEO Tony Khan addressed the poor end to a fantastic PPV.
“Kenny crudely built the bomb with hammers and nails and in the end, when it comes to building exploding rings, that’s not his forte.”
Tony Khan says they will address the finish to the PPV in storyline on Dynamite. "Kenny crudely built the bomb with hammers and nails and in the end, when it comes to building exploding rings, that's not his forte.
"It gave us an out with Kenny being in charge of construction."

This shows AEW is going to use the pathetic ending to Revolution as a storyline. What was once the most disappointing ending to a PPV will serve as a plot device for Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley’s rivalry.
Omega and Moxley should ideally be far away from each other for a long time. Having already wrestled each other four times within four months, they need to move on to different challenges.

AEW is in a difficult situation with the blunder, but they have to find a way around it. It could be instances like these that harm the newfound legitimacy AEW gained in 2020.
Another sad fact about the ending is Moxley and Eddie Kingston looking like absolute fools. Despite the lame explosion, both stars sold it like death.
