The German player believes that it will be important for him to step up his game in the match against Djokovic. He certainly has to take his game to a new level in order to defeat the 17-time Grand Slam champion.
In the same interview, Zverev highlighted that it was necessary to step up one’s game while facing any of the ‘Big Three’. He mentioned that he would have said the same thing had he been facing Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer. “Same way when you play Roger or Rafa,” added the US Open 2020 runner up.

The two players have faced each other on a total of six occasions. Djokovic leads the battle with 4-2 after he won the last three encounters between them. However, fans remember how Zverev thrashed the World No. 1 player in straight sets in the finals of the ATP Finals 2018.
On the hard courts too, Djokovic enjoys an edge over Zverev as the Serbian legend has won three out of the four clashes there. They last met at the ATP Finals 2020, where Djokovic managed to steamroll Zverev.
