American Tennis Great Bewildered by Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal’s ‘Absolutely Absurd’ Numbers

Novak Djokovic is surely the star of this tennis season and if not all, at least colleague Andy Roddick thinks the same. Not only did he express his faith in the world’s number-one player breaking Connors’ record soon, but Roddick believed Djokovic’s incredible performance is changing tennis’ narrative as a whole. However, Roddick just didn’t mention Djokovic but he brought reference to Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer to speak about how these tennis stalwarts changed the perspective of tennis.

Now Andy Roddick can’t be blamed. Djokovic surely surprised the whole tennis fraternity with his amazing performance during the Nitto ATP 2023 finals. While Nadal will come back after suffering a hip injury during Wimbledon this year, Federer will be a messiah opening the gates of such tremendous success.  Now Roddick’s comment explains how this tremendous trio brought tennis to the world!

In a recent podcast, Andy Roddick dropped many exclusives about modern tennis. While the conversation started with Roddick explaining Djokovic’s dedication to breaking Jimmy Connor’s famous record of winning most of the men’s singles in tennis, he brings the conversation of how modern tennis players completely broke the convention. He said that previously there were Hall of Fame tennis players who barely earned ten trophies. Now seeing Djokovic’s speed at earning titles, he will soon supersede everyone.

Roddick mentioned the majors as well while speaking of this. he said-“it’s so weird because you look at title tallies for players that are unbelievable. And that’s to me what makes these numbers so incredible, right? Like there are Hall of Fame players who don’t win 25 tournaments, right. It is absolutely absurd, especially when you compare it to generations past they’ve completely changed the narrative around like a successful career.”

Now Roddick can’t be blamed. It was Pete Sampras who won an unbelievable 14 major titles. However, Federer soon broke his record by achieving 17 majors in his career. The Serbian tennis legend has a surprising number of 24 majors. Now that fans anticipate 2024 might be Nadal’s final time on court, possibilities target Djokovic’s success.

In this same podcast, Roddick also spoke about Djokovic’s true ambition of earning the most men’s singles titles in tennis. Now it is the legendary Jimmy Connors who still sits on that throne with a remarkable number of 109 trophies. For a century almost, no tennis star could achieve it. However, with the recent victory, Djokovic now has 98 men’s single trophies, which makes his number a few less than Connors’s.
