Nick Kyrgios never fails to impress, does he? The 26-year-old Australian had just recovered from Covid-19 days before the Australian Open 2022. However, Kyrgios managed to recover from the virus and committed his participation at his ‘home’ Grand Slam.
The 26-year-old has partnered with his fellow Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis in the men’s doubles category alongside playing singles. Further, the two knocked out the top-seeded pair of Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic in the second round. Nick Kyrgios was all smiles after the encounter and he had an interesting tweet to share.

What did Nick Kyrgios say?
The Australian took to Twitter and shared a hilarious tweet after the match. He said, “just letting you know after yesterday’s chop fest in doubles my opponents coach and trainer proceeded to threaten to fight in the players gym. Tennis is a soft soft sport, all because I moved and hit them with a tennis ball.”

The Australian pair had received a wild card to participate in the men’s doubles at the Australian Open 2022. Further, they caused a major upset yesterday when they took out the top-seeded pair from the tournament in the second round. The two defeated the Croatian pair 7-6 (10-8), 6-3 to book their place in the third round. Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis will next take on 15th seeds Ariel Behar and Gonzalo Escobar.

The Australian had a positive start to the tournament. He defeated the British qualifier, Liam Broady, in the first round in straight sets. He dominated the match with his big serves and hard-hitting prowess. The 26-year-old hit as many as 21 aces to complete the match in just under two hours.
However, the Australian could not sustain his winning momentum as he eventually lost to the second-seeded Daniil Medvedev 7-6 (7-1), 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in the second round. The mighty Russian brought his A-game to the court as he breezed into the third round of the ‘Happy Slam’.
