Juan Martin del Potro vs Roger Federer (US Open 2009 final)

In 2009, del Potro won his first-ever Grand Slam at the US Open by beating Roger Federer in the final. This win was probably Delpo’s biggest ever in his career. Before that match, Delpo’d had a 0-6 head-to-head record against the Swiss Maestro. Also, Federer was on a 40-match winning streak at the US Open from 2004-to 2009 winning 5 back-to-back titles.

Roger was going for his sixth consecutive title, but a 20-year-old kid from Argentina didn’t let that happen. Juan Martin del Potro won that match after five thrilling sets of tennis, as the final scoreline was 3-6,7-6,4-6,7-6,6-2.

Del Potro vs Andy Murray (Davis Cup Semi-final 2016)

Andy Murray and del Potro only played ten times in their career and the Argentine won only three times against the Brit. This match happened just after a month of their Rio Olympics Gold medal match, where Murray beat del Potro after a long battle. However, this time, the Argentine got his revenge against Murray after beating him by 6-4,5-7,6-7,6-3,6-4.

Losing the Gold medal match had been heartbreaking for Delpo, but this win certainly brought a smile to his face.
