For athletes, while playing a sport, getting injured is a common occurrence. A lot of times, amazing athletes who are at the peak of their respective sports have to bow out because of unfortunate injuries. And it not only breaks their hearts but also their fans. Novak Djokovic’s fans recently felt the same disappointment when they saw him getting a physio in his latest match at the French Open.

He did not stop playing. But the involvement of a physio scared them straight. The fans are hoping it is just an injury that would get better and not stop him from playing. Recently, one of the interviewers asked what had happened during the match where the physio was involved. This got Djokovic frustrated, for unknown reasons.

Ranked at no. 3 in the ATP rankings, the ‘Djoker’ proceeded to the fourth round in the French Open 2023. His fans are more than excited to see him reach these heights in the biggest clay-court tournament. He defeated Kovacevic, Fucsovics, and Fokina respectively in the first three rounds.

He will be playing J. Varillas tomorrow in the fourth round. However, in his third round, he stopped at the end of the second set and asked for a thigh treatment. The interviewer asked Novak about the next round and how his possible injury might affect it.

Novak responded to the same, “Look, we don’t have much time to start to name the many injuries I have, and the list is quite long. I don’t want to sit here and talk about these things that are not preventing me from playing. These are the circumstances that you, as a professional athlete, must deal with.”

He continued, “Sometimes you need help from a physio during the match. Sometimes you need pills. Sometimes you need help from the god or angels, or whoever. Sometimes you just must deal with the reality. My body is responding differently than it did a few years ago. But at the end of the day, I managed to finish the match, as I said. And, you know, on the court you try to do your best, everything possible, so you can finish the match and win.”.

Novak caught under an act of ‘superstition’

The nightmare for Novak does not end here. One of the tennis pages on Twitter posted about the 22-time Grand Slam champion’s peculiar body mark. It is a small clip that shows Novak’s chest and it has something taped on it with a clear piece. Once the video was out, fans surely started making assumptions.

However, some fans also suggested that it is a pain relief aid. It is something similar to what other athletes wear, like Bianca Andreescu wearing a pain relief band around her arm. What are your thoughts?
