The Spanish legend left the world speechless, with his two back-to-back Grand Slam victories this year. But it seems like the world number three, is considering his potential retirement. However, for the past few months, the 22-time Grand Slam champion is struggling from abdominal injuries.
The tennis legend was not prepared to compete in the Laver Cup after his performance at the US Open. Nadal made a last-minute change of plans and participated alongside his good friend and arch-rival, Roger Federer’s championship farewell match. Next, the 22-time Grand Slam champion will be participating in the South America exhibition tour.

Rafael Nadal answers his retirement question going around
During a recent interview, the former world number one, acknowledged the fact that his physical condition has changed on a rather difficult note, and that he was still resisting the urge to retire and wants to play more.
He said, “I would like to say goodbye on court, that’s for sure. But you never know what the future may bring. And, well, it is obvious that I have also had a very long career, that I feel the love and support of many people all over the world, but we will see how it will be.” Rafael Nadal admitted that he intended to play a little longer before calling it quits.

Nadal added that he was avoiding thinking too much about his retirement, while emphasizing that it will be hard to plan for the future. And the tennis legends talk about his internal conflict addressing the issue. He concluded by saying, “Right now I don’t think about it because when you already start thinking about it, it is because something doesn’t work in the day to day, right? And although my body in recent times has not worked in my day to day, my head tells me that I still want this to continue and we will see until when.”
Nadal wishes to have a Roger Federer style last match
Rafael Nadal further continued that he would prefer to retire on the tennis court just like the way the swiss maestro, Roger Federer, did at the Laver Cup. However, he was also willing to accept his retirement, regardless of how it occurs.
