The French Open tennis competition is going above and beyond to set up some nail-biting and thrilling encounters for sports spectators. Tennis fans have been glued to their chairs with anticipation. They have been treated to some incredible matches during the tournament, one after the other. And now, as the clay-court Grand Slam competition nears its conclusion, there is one more gripping encounter in which two buddies who play for Roger Federer’s team at the Laver Cup will face off against each other for their Roland Garros title run.

Casper Ruud and Alexander Zverev, Team Europe teammates from the Laver Cup, will face each other in the clay-court tournament semi-final to battle for a spot in the final.

The world’s fourth-ranked tennis player, Casper Rune, has finally reached the semi-finals after defeating Holger Rune in an energetic four-set battle. And now, to make his place in the finals, the Norwegian tennis player will go against Zverev, who defeated Tomás Martín Etcheverry on the same day in a similar four-set match.

However, interestingly, these two tennis players, who are all set to play against each other, have also played with each other in the Laver Cup. Yes, both of them have been a part of Federer’s team in Europe at the same time. While the German tennis star has been a part of Team Europe for 2017–19 and 2021, the 24-year-old tennis player has been a part of Team Europe for the last two years.

And both of them played for the team in 2021 together, so it will be amazing to watch teammates of a time go against each other. Nevertheless, this is not the first time that they will play against each other. Till now, they have faced each other three times on the tennis court, with Zverev leading head-to-head with two victories. However, the last class in the Miami quarterfinals last year went with the fourth-ranked tennis player.

However, off the tennis court, both of the tennis players who have been a part of Team Europe at one time share a great bond with each other.
