‘God Damn’ – Carlos Alcaraz Vents Frustration Over a Series of Mishaps at Indian Wells

Carlos Alcaraz can’t seem to catch a break from interruptions. The Spaniard aims to enjoy the moments after winning the Indian Wells Masters against Daniil Medvedev, but he can’t seem to even give a post-match interview without something going awry. As he spoke to the press, a false alarm went off in the venue, making the Spaniard laugh at the event.

For the former number 1, the last week has been full of pauses caused by bizarre reasons. First, a swarm of stinging insects found a way to stop his clash, then, the skies cried, forcing him to stop, now, the Spaniard laughed. 

Carlos Alcaraz vents out in frustration over another interruption

The Spaniard shut down Medvedev in two sets in the Indian Wells final and managed to defend his title. As he sat down with the press after his victory, he aimed to revel in his victory. However, even this moment would be interrupted as an emergency alarm went off in the middle of the event. 

The alarm roared, “Attention. Attention. Attention. An emergency has been reported in this building. Please cease operations and leave the building utilizing the nearest exit or fire exit stairway. Do not use elevators, repeat, do not use elevators.” The alarm was a false one as no emergency had been reported.

Alcaraz, trying to deal with the situation, laughed it off as he said, “It’s my fire on the court, I guess.” After some time, he asked a reporter to continue with their question and said, “I try to be focused on the question.” As the alarm continued, the frustrated player finally said, “Bees, here this one, god damn“. Alcaraz’s frustrations have built up over the last few weeks as he has seen many interruptions. 

Every time Alcaraz’s clash has been stopped

The first stop came during his quarterfinal against Alexander Zverev. As the two players fought in the first set, a swarm of bees went on to take over the stadium, and the Spaniard ran away to the back of the fence in fear of being bitten. Zverev and the chair umpire also left their posts to stay away from the bees. After the debacle ended, one bee landed on Alcaraz’s bag, and he looked at it with a traumatized face. 

In the semifinal against Jannik Sinner, Alcaraz’s match would be interrupted once again as the rain would have no mercy on the two players. The showers forced the clash to be postponed for 3 hours, which did not make the bout any better for the two players. Interruptions would come Alcaraz’s way once again as he could not manage to finish his press conference without one.
