‘He Can Do Anything’ – Andrey Rublev Is in Awe of Rafael Nadal’s Heroics at the Indian Wells 2022

Andrey Rublev has continued his streak by winning his 13th match consecutively. He defeated Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells Masters. Rafael Nadal, who has also kept his 19th straight winning streak alive, has also kept Rublev in awe of the player. World no. 4 has become the first man to have 21 grand slam titles.

During the press conference after the match, one reporter asked him about Nadal’s performance this season. In response, he said,I don’t know. Rafa is the best in history player. He can do anything. Sometimes is better just to sit down, to watch and enjoy (smiling)”. The Russian player made his admiration clear for Rafa’s performance and his results. Rafael Nadal has kept his 19-match win streak alive, making his performance extra-ordinary this season.

Spontaneity of Rafa

World no. 7 talked about Nadal’s spontaneity and how he brings out significant results and performances. He talked about how it was predicted that Rafa will play the US Open, out of which he eventually pulled out. However, he came back to win the Australian Open. He said, “We’ll see. Last year many people expect that he will play US Open. Suddenly he pull out. He finish the season. Now he came back, he win a Grand Slam, and he’s playing here, then he will play clay-court season. With him, you never know”.

Rublev’s performance

The Russian player has kept his performance on the notch and has been keeping the winning streak alive. During the quarter-finals, he played his baseline game powerfully, which Dimitrov could not take on. Rublev won the game with a score of 7-5, 6-2. Andrey Rublev will now play Taylor Fritz, who had defeated the Russian in two sets of the Paris Masters in the year 2021.
